Oracle Knowledge Information Manager http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss <![CDATA[MPS 9.4 - Multi-Map and geofencing]]> Hi!  Halton Police would like to use a commercial map source with Geofencing.  We took a look at OpenStreets (as delivered) in the Multi-Map but prefer to use a commercial map source with support and ongoing service.  We turned on Google but then learned that Geofencing is only available in the Multi-Map configuration.

I can't find any documentation on how to configure the Multi-Map to use another map source, e.g. Bing.  It seems the vemap configuration is the same as the google map and would not support Geofencing (i.e. not Multi-Map).

We would greatly appreciate any information and assistance.

1. Geographic>Map Data Sources

2. Parameter Records list cad>CadMap

3. Parameter Records table cad>MapLegend

These are then extracted into the mobileMMapSettings.xml file and placed on the MPS machines, typically under WsgApplicationData\configurations\customPublicSafetyMaps.

I think the extraction utility is delivered with I/MDT, let me see if I can spot it....
Look in the MPS Configuration Help (delivered with MPS to the Documentation\en folder as MobilePublicSafety_Config.chm) under the Extract Mobile Files Dialog Box section.

Another question, Halton doesn't want multi-source in Dispatcher, only MPS.  We have the mobileMMapSettings.xml with OpenStreets.  Should I override the parameters and extract a new mobileMMapSettings?  Or try editting the mobileMMapSettings.xml using the descriptions in SysAdm help?

I'd probably try the override approach and re-extract. But also check what the RestrictFromApps column does in the MapLegend table. I'm pretty sure it can prevent layers from going to MPS, but I'm not sure if it can keep them from going to Dispatcher (and I'm not real sure if that's what you mean -- I don't know how the multi source map is configured in/out of Dispatcher )

I am on annual leave but if you don't have an answer by the time I get back I will send some information. I have set up ArcGis in our training system as it looks like we are hitting i the limits of the OpenStreets policy.
