Accelerator Key (Function Key) That Puts Cursor and Focus in Command Windows Stops Functioning

We have reports of the following happening intermittently on our CAD 9.2 MR5 workstations:

The F12 key is the accelerator key assigned to put focus and the cursor into the command window. At least once per week this will stop functioning on a workstation and will only start functioning again if CAD is restarted. It happens on different workstations at different times. The support desk has not been able to reproduce this nor have they found anything of note in the logs. Our implementer saw this happening and tried assigning different keys to no avail.
We were told that no other agencies have reported this. However, at the Hexagon conference last week I was told by the CAD Administrator for Montgomery County, Pennsylvania that her agency also has this issue.

Have any other agencies experienced this? If you have a fix please let me know otherwise please file an SR so that it will be fixed or a CR put in.

Regards,

Brett

Hi Brett,

This has been reported to us as well, but it is so intermittent that our support team has not seen it directly yet.  We've been on CAD 9.3 MR4 since March 2016.

Do you already have an SR that we could reference?

Thanks for getting this out into the community!

Thanks Rob:

This has been happening for us since we went live in April of 2015. The original SR #1-673455591 put in by our inplementer was closed by HSI and reopened under SR # 1-1209099399.

Take care,

We have entered SR 1-1335207761 to capture this problem in our system (9.3 MR4).  The problem is that these SRs are being closed out because they are hard to reproduce.  If we could advocate for them to be escalated to a Defect, we might make some more progress.

Hi Brett-

Is this only at a particular workstation? Have you deleted the icallres.dll and let it download again? The accelerator keys are stored within... just a thought.

We have ours mapped to F2 as well and have never experienced issues with it; we are 9.2 MR5 (if i recall correctly, you all are on the same version)

Hi Rachel:

This happens at more than one workstation.

Yes we are 9.2 MR5. We have made changes to the icallres dll a few times since going live so a new version has been copied down to the workstations a few times.

We have also created a brand new image for our calltaker workstations with a fresh installation and it has happened at one of those since.

It was great to see you at the conference.

Take care,

Brett - Winnipeg Police Service

We are 9.2 MR6 and have the same issue when we upgraded and... changed our keyboards. What we found is that when we restart a PC the Scroll lock button is inactivated so the function keys stop working. For us it's F7 and incredibly annoying when you're trying to quickly get to the command line... Hope your solution is as simple but this was the issue for us.

Thanks Karin:
I am glad you found a solution.
Alas, restarting CAD causes the function key to work again so our problem must be a different one.
