Are any other agencies experiencing issues with Mobile for Public Safety 9.2mr4 under scenarios relating to loss of connectivity and subsequent reconnection..

In a test environment we are seeing

  • The UI flickering and flicking as cached messages arrive - can take quite some time to process
  • The wrong "current status" being evident after all messages are processed (wrong event, wrong number of Dispatch Assigned events etc
  • The MPS software not detecting that it doesnt have connectivity
  • After exceptionally long periods of disconnection (for example 24hrs) the software taking hours to process all stored messages

Any insight into how other agencies see Loss of Connectivity/Reconnection scenarios playing out with 9.2mr4 would be useful thanks.

We have experienced some of those symptoms (slowness) with MPS 9.3 during our testing.  We discovered that upgrading to IE11 resolved the issue.

Thanks Blunt,

We have been told by our local Intergraph team that IE11 is NOT an option for 9.2mr4..

Have you gone into production with 9.3 yet on your MDTs?

Not yet.  We are shooting for a November cut-over.

Thanks Brandon..

We were shooting for a November cutover as well.. last year. :( But we've had nothing but problems with 9.2mr4.

For what it is worth not MR4 and IE8 (right now) but, we were/are experiencing constant disconnect/reconnect messages within history with MPS 9.2 MR2 we found the issue was only happening when connected to our Cisco VPN and during normal business hours.  As of yesterday we found a UDP flood occuring that is triggering the UDP flood protection feature on the network devices which caused packets to be dropped and thus performance of all applications on the tablets to drop drastically (in peak times without VPN simple query takes <5 secs at the same time with VPN 2+ minutes).  As the flood doesn't start until we do something in MPS the next question is why is MPS sending this much UDP data when the VPN connection appears to be solid.

Thanks Jamie.. thats very interesting.

We will keep an eye out for that possible UDP flood from MPS in our testing. With 370 MDTs (usually 210 active at any time) that could be significant.. especially with the low 3G data caps we have.

We have already seen a defect where the software gets into some kind of loop and is requesting/recieving continual RecallDispatch reports.. every two seconds or so.. we cant reproduce it but have seen it occur a few times now. We've provided logs and video on our SR for that defect. I'm not sure if this is related to your UDP flood or not.

Cheers.
